Eni Aluko has accused Laura Woods of gaslighting her after the ITV and TNT Sports activities presenter claimed her current remarks are “dragging ladies’s punditry backwards”. Former England worldwide Aluko returned to the highlight over the weekend following her name for girls’s soccer to be “gatekept” as she bolstered her place that male pundits, together with ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright, are stopping alternatives for females within the sport.
Aluko, 38, had encountered backlash final April for initially launching the dispute with Wright and suggesting he wanted to contemplate “how a lot he is doing within the ladies’s sport”. Aluko, who netted 33 objectives in 105 appearances for England, argued that Wright has made it tougher for feminine pundits to determine themselves within the trade.
She later apologised, however Wright declined to just accept, stating he was “dissatisfied” by her remarks. Then, after Aluko restated her place on male pundits, Woods focused her ITV colleague on X on Monday morning by means of a sequence of posts. Woods argued that Aluko’s feedback will “not solely drag ladies’s sport backwards, it is going to drag ladies’s punditry in all types of the sport backwards”.
talkSPORT presenter Jim White introduced up the “gaslit” remark earlier than Aluko responded: “Not gaslit, I do not need to say that as a result of she has a view and I respect her view.
“She talked about about little boys being necessary for the ladies’s sport now and I agree. Once I see little boys coming to ladies’s video games now, they’ve the ladies on the again of their shirts, they do not have the names of male pundits.”
