Legendary actor Robert De Niro has made a heartbreaking eight-word assertion about his mortality after dropping a detailed pal and co-star. The 82-year-old Goodfellas star was among the many first to pay tribute to his late The Godfather Half II and True Confessions co-star, Robert Duvall.

In an emotional message, De Niro shared some ideas about his personal longevity as he penned: “God bless Bobby. I hope I can dwell until I am 95. Could he relaxation in peace.” The admission comes as Duvall died on Sunday February 15 at age 95. The information was confirmed by Luciana, the actor’s spouse of 20 years, in an announcement on Fb on Monday. “Yesterday we mentioned goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished pal, and one of many biggest actors of our time. Bob handed away peacefully at dwelling, surrounded by love and luxury,” she wrote.

“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was merely all the pieces. His ardour for his craft was matched solely by his deep love for characters, an ideal meal, and holding courtroom.

“For every of his many roles, Bob gave all the pieces to his characters and to the reality of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves one thing lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thanks for the years of help you confirmed Bob and for giving us this time and privateness to rejoice the reminiscences he leaves behind.”

Duvall’s portrayal of Tom Hagen, the loyal consigliere in The Godfather and The Godfather Half II, stays one of many defining performances of Nineteen Seventies cinema.

He underwent surgical procedure in 2003 on the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Most cancers Centre and made a full restoration.

Based on the American Most cancers Society, the actor mentioned he knew he needed to “keep robust and make knowledgeable choices” and praised “common check-ups” for saving his life.
