Chelsea reply to ‘vile’ racist abuse of Wesley Fofana as assertion made

Chelsea have launched an announcement following racist messages obtained by defender Wesley Fofana following his purple card in opposition to Burnley

Chelsea have condemned racist abuse directed at defender Wesley Fofana on social media following his purple card in Saturday’s draw in opposition to Burnley. 

The Frenchman was proven a second yellow card with the Blues 1-0 up within the sport within the second half. Chelsea had been unable to carry on for the ultimate 18 minutes, having to accept a 1-1 draw.

In an announcement, Chelsea stated: “Chelsea Soccer Membership is appalled and disgusted by vile on-line racist abuse directed at Wesley Fofana.

“The focused racist abuse Wes has been subjected to following right this moment’s Premier League fixture in opposition to Burnley is abhorrent and won’t be tolerated.

“Such behaviour is totally unacceptable and runs counter to the values of the sport and all the things we stand for as a membership. There is no such thing as a room for racism.

Fofana’s purple card implies that he’ll serve a one-match suspension for Chelsea. He’ll subsequently be unavailable to Liam Rosenior for subsequent week’s Premier League conflict in opposition to Arsenal on the Emirates Stadium.

The issue of racism has been within the headlines this week, following the fallout of alleged feedback made in the direction of Actual Madrid star Vinicius Junior in the course of the Champions League conflict between Benfica and Actual Madrid.
