How you can watch Commonwealth Day Service as BBC scraps stay protection

BBC followers have been left fuming after the broadcaster made the choice to axe stay protection of the Commonwealth Day Service 2026 on account of “funding challenges”. The ceremony, which takes place at Westminster Abbey as we speak (March 9), can be attended by senior royals together with King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Catherine and Princess Anne.

It’s the first time the senior royals can be gathered in a single place for the reason that arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in February 2026 on allegations of misconduct in public workplace. He has since been launched underneath investigation, and denies all wrongdoing.

The stay broadcast, which normally airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, has as an alternative been changed by an episode of Escape to the Nation at 3pm.
