Met Workplace points new 14-hour yellow ice warning for six areas – full listing

The Met Workplace has issued a brand new yellow warning for ice throughout six areas of England and Scotland. From 8pm at this time till 10am tomorrow, icy circumstances are anticipated in Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar, North East England, South West Scotland and Lothian Borders, and Stratchclyde.

A Met Workplace forecast stated: “Following a spell of rain and a few hill snow throughout Sunday afternoon, temperatures will fall beneath freezing as skies clear from the west via the night and in a single day, resulting in ice forming on untreated surfaces.” The alert warned that ice forming on untreated surfaces may result in troublesome travelling circumstances.

It added: “Most likely icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Some accidents from slips and falls on icy surfaces.”
