Labour activists in Gorton and Denton have demanded Sir Keir Starmer reverse the ban on Andy Burnham standing within the crunch by-election. The Higher Manchester Mayor has been blocked from working by Labour’s ruling physique amid accusations the Prime Minister fears a problem to his management if Mr Burnham returns to Parliament.
