The bomb squad has been scrambled to a quiet duck pond in Cornwall after the invention of a suspect machine. Devon and Cornwall police arrived on the scene at round 9.35am on Monday (February 9).
A cordon was put in place on the scene at Boscawen Park, on Malpas Street, following the report of the machine. Images taken this afternoon by CornwallLive present police tape and a site visitors cone blocking the doorway, together with a police automobile on scene. As a part of a press release, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police mentioned: “Police had been notified at round 9.35am on Monday 9 February to the duck pond at Boscawen Park, on Malpas Street, Truro, following stories of a suspected unexploded ordnance being situated.

“Officers attended and the pond has been taped off.
“The Explosive Ordnance Disposal group have been knowledgeable and can assess the merchandise.”
As of 5pm this afternoon, police have confirmed that the group attended and confirmed that the merchandise was not ordnance.

The machine was discovered to be a small, hand-held fireplace extinguisher. The cordon has now been lifted.
