M6 visitors: Large crash brings motorway to standstill with extreme delays

Drivers approaching the incident scene have been warned to anticipate main delays to their journey.

A serious crash on the M6 has introduced visitors on a stretch of the key motorway to a whole standstill, with drivers being warned they face extreme delays. Three of 4 lanes have been closed on the M6 northbound in Cheshire inside junction 21 following a collision. 

Motorway CCTV footage exhibits heavy visitors constructing northbound on the Thelwall Viaduct approaching the busy rush hour interval. Nationwide Highways North West wrote on X: “3 (of 4) lanes are closed on the #M6 in #Cheshire northbound inside J21 as a result of a collision. Delays are at the moment 50 minutes above the profiled journey time. Thanks to your endurance.” Visitors information service Inrix wrote: “Three lanes blocked and queueing visitors as a result of accident on M6 Thelwall Viaduct Northbound between J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) and J21 A57 Manchester Highway (Woolston).”

In accordance with Nationwide Highways, delays of fifty minutes are at the moment being skilled.

M6 crash inflicting main delays

Visitors is at a standstill on the M6 motorway after a crash this afternoon.

The collision was reported shortly after 4pm at present on the northbound carriageway between junction 20 (Lymm Interchange) and junction 21 (Woolston).

Three lanes are blocked on the Thelwall Viaduct, and lengthy queues are forming.
