A rescue operation has been launched after an individual fell into the ocean from a P&O ferry.

P&O has confirmed the incident happened on the European Highlander Ferry and it’s helping the authorities. HM Coastguard acquired a report at 1.21pm of a person overboard from a P&O Ferry travelling between Larne and Stranraer. A rescue operations has been launched with Larne and Portmuck Coastguard Rescue Groups, RNLI Lifeboats from Larne and Donaghadee, and the HM Coastguard helicopter becoming a member of The Coastguard helicopter has been seen circling water off the coast of Larne
A P&O Ferries spokesperson stated: “We are able to verify that an incident has occurred onboard the European Highlander whereas the vessel was crusing to Larne. We’re working intently with the related authorities, who’re actively responding. Our precedence is the security and wellbeing of all concerned, and we’ll present additional updates as extra info turns into obtainable.”
