A person has bought an entire deserted village in Spain for €310,000 (£269,483). The village was bought by American entrepreneur Jason Lee Beckwith, who’s a musician, hotelier, and CEO of Rocking Hospitality from Oceanside, California.
He introduced the village of Salto de Castro (also referred to as Poblado de Castro) within the province of Zamora, Spain. Jason and his spouse have large plans to renovate the entire village. It’s located on the border with Portugal alongside the Duero River within the Arribes del Duero space.
The village was initially constructed within the Nineteen Forties and Nineteen Fifties by the electrical energy firm Iberduero (now Iberdrola) to deal with staff constructing the close by Salto de Castro dam and hydroelectric amenities.
On the time, it included round 44 houses, a church, a college, a bar, a guesthouse, Guardia Civil barracks, leisure areas, and two swimming swimming pools.
In 1989, it was deserted, and it has since fallen into wreck. The village has appeared on heritage watchlists for at-risk monuments.
